Modellers Without Borders decided to serve the veteran community by encouring modelling and its mental health benefits. Each country’s chapter of MWB will develop the affiliations to achieve this. In the case of the US, we are working with Help Heal Veterans to collect kits and supplies that will be sent to Veterans Administration facilities across the country. Help Heal Veterans allows us to co-brand our events with them. Modellers Without Borders is responsible for working with the appropriate local club and getting the collected material to a Help Heal Veteran location.

Earlier this year we developed criteria for local clubs to affiliate with MWB when they put on exhibitions. These items include: subscribing to the MWB’s operating principles, using an open judging format and GSB awards format, allowing display-only models, putting the Modellers Without Borders and Help Heal Veterans logos on their event advertising, and providing for kit and supply donations for veterans. Modellers Without Borders will select a “WOW factor” award winner and present a plaque, recognize some models with Modellers Without Borders poker chips, and take care of the donations. There is no charge to either party. The local club may retain its affiliations with other modeling entities (i.e. AMPS or IPMS). ModelFiesta (IPMS San Antonio, Jan., 2026 in New Braunfels, TX) will be the first local club exhibition to affiliate with Modellers Without Borders and Help Heal Veterans.
