Congratulations to Brad McDaniel of the Sprue Crew Scale Modelers Club for taking home the latest MWB “WOW Factor” award at last weekends Route 66 Model Expo in Tulsa,Ok. Route 66 Model Expo wow award 2025

This “WOW Factor” award is presented to Brad McDaniel by Modellers Without Border Bord member Dana Mathes.

About the model:

Markings and Identification
Customized the aircraft to represent Major Heinz-Wolfgang Schnaufer’s plane as Kommodore of Nachtjagdgeschwader 4.

Cockpit Enhancements
Used aftermarket parts for instrument panels and seat belts.
Scratch-built:
Oxygen system regulator.
O2 gauges, lines, and radio wires.
Comms cord for the control stick.
Control knobs/levers and floor details.
Green pilot O2 hose.
Wired the back of the instrument panel.
Installed an EZ 42 gun sight.
Modified the cockpit canopy into a 2-piece configuration.

Landing Gear and Engine
Added brake lines to the main landing gear.
Wired parts of the engine.
Opened the fuselage panel to make the engine visible, simulating maintenance action.

Gun and Ammunition System
Opened gun spent round ports.
Added gun barrels

Intake and Exhaust

Used aftermarket parts for the intake, engine, and exhaust.
Scratch-built intake and exhaust covers.

Ground Equipment and Base
Included aftermarket ground equipment.
Scratch-built and detailed the base.
