Kotare are pleased to introduce a new series of exclusive limited numbered edition models of photo reconnaissance Spitfires to honour the incredibly brave pilots who flew these (typically) unarmed aircraft deep into enemy territory at great risk. For too long have their exploits and aircraft gone unrecognized.

In late 1939 a program instigated by Sidney Cotton resulted in the conversion of two mid-production Spitfire Mk.1 into the first of a long line of illustrious photo reconnaissance Spitfires by removing the armament and radio, installing downward facing cameras in the wings, and modifying the canopy with side blisters for improved visibility. This became known as the Spitfire Mk.I PR Type A.
