As a service to the modelling community, Modellers Without Borders is developing a library portal to make finding reliable, curated information about modelling techniques simpler and faster.  Our Operating Principles state that we actively share techniques and best practices. We also are committed to listening to the modelling community to best understand how to serve them.  So, as we begin to design this library portal, we need to understand your needs and preferences regarding what you look for and how you look for it.  At this point, we are considering only information that is not kit or subject specific.

We invite you to take this short, easy survey to guide this project.  The survey can be completed in less than five minutes and gives you the opportunity to make personal comments in addition to the formatted choices.  This survey will be open until 1-12-2025 and we will post the results on this website.  Please join us on this journey and let us know your preferences for modeling information.
Thank you.

For a library of resources, I want something that is user friendly. Categorized by subject matter with different subsets. Coming from an armor modeling background I would like to see a categorized listing of all the major subject areas. WW2 armor could be broken into multiple sub categories that cover specific nations— usa, britain, russian, german etc. This can be further broken down into construction, painting and weathering categories. The same can be done with Cold War and modern/current. The same can of course apply to aircraft etc.

Other categories can include photography, transportation, tools, 3d printing, resin casting, etc

Dioramas can have categories such as materials, composing a scene etc.

Likewise having a kit/product review section is always helpful—especially if it is community based.

When it comes to product reviews like paints and weathering mediums it would be super helpful to have comparisons between different manufactures and tips on how best use and store certain products.

Having a search engine function would also be helpful, as would at a later date the ability to save articles as part of a member profile for easy referencing in the future.

Finally I would like to see this community driven as things are added to the library, either by members themselves or shared to the library.

I’m taking the survey now. .
Given the international nature of the organization, I would suggest spelling out dates instead of using a numbers-only system.
To an American, 1-12-2025 looks like Jan 12th 2025.

      Hi Raphael,
thank you for taking the survey.
Also thank you for your feedback on spelling dates. As a European, this is my date. Spelling out is a good solution!
