Description: Revell 1/160 scale Northsea Trawler upscaled to a 1/72 scale derelict fishing boat of the Aral Sea fishing fleet. The hull was shortened by cutting a two inch section in order to reduce the beam to length ratio. The pilot house incorporates kit parts as well as scratch built portions. The main winch/windlass is scratch built as is the main hatch and hold coaming and interior. The ship is deliberately rusted and heavily weathered to depict a years old grounded derelict. The blistered paint on the pilot house is wood glue bubbles painted over and then ripped open. Expect for the primer coat from a spray can and the hull red also from a spray can the model is painted entirely by hand/brush using Vallejo acrylics. The peeling paint on the hull and deck used a latex mask technique over a rusted base cost. The base is rigid foam insulation board cover with AK “Rough Terrain” paste and AK “Crackle Effects” To convey the abandoned derelict nature of scene of the once former sea now desert no figures or animals were used.
