Description: My family and I lived in Charleston, SC for a number of years and a connecting flight either through Charlotte (on American) or Atlanta (on Delta) were musts if one wanted to go somewhere else beyond a limited number of places on the east coast. Many happy memories and starts/ends to good trips and vacations were aboard Delta MD-88s in their twilight years, and I wanted to commemorate those times, as well as a venerable workhorse of the Delta fleet.
The minicraft kit is a solid start, and can be modified with minor details to create a faithful version of the real “Mad Dog” jet. I scratch built all antennas, aerials and vanes, as well as the debris deflector on the nose wheel.
Kit Information: Minicraft 1/144 McDonnell Douglas MD-80. Finished with Mr. Paint White, Boeing Gray, Insignia Blue and Alclad II Hi Shine Aluminum. Decals by DrawDecal and Flightpath.
