Description: My recently completed 1/48 Tamiya F-84G. This aircraft was done in the livery of the 493rd fighter bomber squadron, 48th fighter bomber group which participated in bombing missions during the Korean war.
Overall, the build went together smoothly in traditional Tamiya fashion. Honestly, I was a bit nervous going into the build since the kit is 27 years old. I believe Tamiya intended for the nose gun bay to be displayed open, because it didn’t play “nice” when I closed it. Additionally the kit is missing the vast majority of rivets that I saw in reference photos, which I ended up adding.
In addition to the kit, I used the following aftermarket items:
•Eagle strike decals
•Eduard PE in the cockpit
•Eduard masking for the canopy
These photos are also missing the “red bars” which were added to the US Insignia during and after 1947. I masked and painted the bars after these photos were taken.
