Description: This was a model of firsts…first Eduard kit…first WW1 subject…first biplane…first attempt at rigging. It simultaneously ignited my love of World War One aircraft and helped me conquer my fear of rigging biplanes. The kit was from the Eduard Weekend Edition kit, so there were no PE or resin add-ons. The kit itself presented a few challenges due to mis-aligned alignment pins and holes, but I dealt with that as needed. The rigging was done with smoke colored .004 monofilament used for quilting and hollow rubber tubing for the turnbuckles, which was sourced from fishing fly tying supplies. The paint used was from the old Testors Model Master enamel line. the prop wood effect was hand-painted and finished with Tamiya clear orange. The base is simply a pine plaque from Hobby Lobby topped with railroad grass. The placard was printed on my computer.
