Description: The diorama depicts a historic photograph (taken on July 13, 1943) in which, in the days following the landing in Sicily, a Sherman from Squadron B of the 3rd CLY (County of London Yeomanry) passes through the town of Villasmundo (in the province of Syracuse) coming from the city of Augusta and turned towards the towns of Carlentini and Catania. The Battle of Villasmundo was one of the most hard-fought battles of the Sicilian Campaign, with the highest number of deaths among the tank crews of the 3rd CLY. The town of Villasmundo included three PBCs (Coastal Checkpoints), one of which is reproduced in the diorama. On the left side of the diorama, some rubble from one of the three PBCs, that was located near Piazza Duomo, demolished by the British soldiers is reproduced. The diorama base was self-built. The house reproduced was self-built, the roof tiles were 3D printed. All vehicles and figures were painted with acrylic and oil paints. Weathering effects were reproduced with oil paints and various pigments.
