Description: I was going through Henk of Holland’s website and checked out the listing for Armada Hobby kits. I saw a pictures of the VT-55 ARV and wanted to build it. I finally got my hands on one and used the book by Wings & Wheels Publications on T-55 Special & Recovery Vehicles in Detail as a reference. The kit was very detailed but I still added some more after market parts such us T-55 tracks from OKB Grigorov. I also scratch built or replaced a lot of parts. Among the parts I built from scratch are brush guards for the headlamps, pulley hooks and spare track braces. I replaced photo etched parts like the securing hooks for the dozer blade. The photo etched ones were to thin, I replaced the with brass wires. I added OKB Grigorov’s navigational lamps on the fenders. The kit did not come with decals, I use spare ones from my other T-55 models. I hand painted the tonnage sign on the crane. Weathering was very minimal copying the appearance of the ones on my reference book.
