Modelling Without Borders (MWB) is a force for social good through its promotion of the hobby’s social and mental health benefits. This community is affiliating with organizations which use scale modeling to aid our military veterans. Each country represented by MWB will eventually partner with such an organization.

In the United States, Modellers Without Borders is partnering with Help Heal Veterans (HHV), a non-profit organization which has provided the veteran community with therapeutic craft kits since 1971. Help Heal Veterans is headquartered in San Diego, California and in 2024 supplied over 170,000 craft kits to Veterans Administration sites, veterans organizations, and individual veterans across the country. Donated injected molded plastic model kits are a key part of their offering and are sought after by the veteran community.

How can you as a modeler aid Help Heal Veterans as they serve our veteran community?
Donation of Kits, Tools, and Reference Materials.
Modellers Without Borders will have donation collections stations at selected local model contests. These events will be posted on the MWB website calendar page (link). You may put model kits, tools, and reference items which you wish to give in these collection boxes. These materials will be delivered to Help Heal Veterans for distribution to veterans.
Donate Model Kit Collections.
Modelers and their families often wish to dispose of their model kit collections. Help Heal Veterans will accept these collection donations, and on a case-by-case basis provide for the shipping of them to their facilities. To arrange such donations, modelers can contact HHV directly at 951-926-4500.
